This is a smooth and sweet Hojicha from Wazuka. While most Japanese green teas have a nice grassy or vegetal flavor, Hojicha takes on a vastly different flavor profile. This roasted tea has notes of chocolate, caramel or coffee. This particular Hojicha is unique for its more mild and sweet flavor. You may notice a nice mouthwatering effect on the tongue as well as a pleasant coffee aftertaste.

Meet the Farmer

Mr. Noike owns a small farm surrounded by a dense forest, giving a unique microclimate to his teas. With the tall pine trees growing nearby, the tea plants are given partial shading throughout the day, leading to an even smoother and sweeter taste.

About the Farm

This tea comes to us from Mr. Noike, a small farmer south of Kyoto in a town called Wazuka. This area is becoming a hub for green tea production, particularly matcha.

How to Brew it

Add 5 grams of leaves to the teapot or strainer and then pour in 150ml to 200ml of water (170 degrees Fahrenheit) and let the tea brew for 1 minute. You can brew the leaves 2-3 more times with the same temperature for 20 seconds each
